For a measly 650$ US, you can purchase the Criterion Collection - Essential Art House: 50 Years of Janus Films. It contains a hard cover book documenting the history of these films as well as 50 DVD’s which you know will be the highest quality.
Among these are some of my favorite Art House movies [...]

Reviewguys
November 30th, 2006 · No Comments
A project from long ago has been brought back. It’s not much yet; the content has been dumped into Wordpress, a bare-bones template applied, stuff is a bit broken, but…. there’s the first new review in years now up! This was a “review blog” way before the time of blogs.

“Reviewguys is special because we review [...]

This is something I love. When I build a home.. this is where a part of my brain will live during the creative/design process. I would love to my flickr stream show up on my walls, have paint that changes moods, have a ambient light that would follow our room usage patterns or have walls/windows [...]

Idea’s behind the Wii
November 21st, 2006 · No Comments
A fun quick read; Business Week asking Miyamoto and another Wi team member about the big ideas behind the Wii. I really do think they got it right. This is also worth checking out — a description of the technology behind the wiimote from CNN.
“Miyamoto: We started work on the Wii around the time the [...]

Mt. Orford

Update: Looks like the ski season might be saved at Orford.http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2006/11/22/qc-orfordultimatum.html
I’m never one to be happy about anyone losing there jobs unfairly, and have certainly been no fan of the ski-resort industry and their constant grab at real estate dollars as the motivation to run most large mountains (read Downhill Slide which thoroughly covers the [...]

Wii testing
November 20th, 2006 · No Comments
I have a brand-new, decked-out, pimped up Nintendo Wii for a couple days on loan from a very nice friend. I’ll be posting some impressions and be personally deciding when/if I’ll be buying one. Linda and I fired it up for a couple hours yesterday - and we both had fun. Not groundbreaking but definitely [...]

Plank Poker
November 17th, 2006 · No Comments
I work with a number of very cool and funny people. We decided a couple weeks back that we should do a plank poker night. We have a large open office with a perfect table for seating 6-8 people around, no neighbor’s to disturb and a Mac set to be a pumping sound system hooked [...]

The res of games
November 16th, 2006 · No Comments
We went over to one of Linda’s friends place the other night for dinner. We had an awesome time hanging out in their loft in the village - heated stone floors and a 12 foot long “picnic-table styled” dinner table really appeal to me.
Her boyfriend writes a gaming column for a Canadian newspaper… which is [...]

Jason Lee Interview

Fecalface.com has a recent interview with Jason Lee along with some of his photographs.
“Someone once said, “talent lies in everyone, it just takes the right spark to set it off.” Jason Lee’s spark was skateboarding. Skating put him in the right place at the right time to get a spark off of something else, acting. [...]

Wordpress, plugins and spam
November 10th, 2006 · 2 Comments
Stevey.com runs off of WordPress 2.0.3 with a couple extra plugin’s thrown in to make my life easier. I also modified a bunch of the PHP to make it do some other stuff, like saving me looking up trackback URL’s and modifying alt tags. Nothing fancy. As for pluggins, I’m running Akismet, Bad Behavior, Brian’s [...]

Winter waves #2
November 10th, 2006 · No Comments
Just like last fall… I have the HB web cams setup to show on my desktop in real time (courtesy of geektool). The waves today look awesome. I counted about 5 guys out in view of the cam. Driving me nuts that I’ve been so “slothy” the past 4 weeks and watching these killer waves [...]

2006/07 Cottage

Last night, we went and signed a lease for our new winter cottage. Done deal! We have it from 18th of November ’til the end of March.
Easily the best chalet we have ever rented. A beautiful squared log cabin (inside modern wood siding) which was moved to sit on the side of a cliff with [...]
