Time Lapse in HD using a SLR
December 26th, 2007 · No Comments
Some great HD video (except for the terrible music) on VIMEO made using a Canon 20D to shoot time lapse night shots. Here’s the authors checklist on how to do this yourself;

Ghostbusters
December 26th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Feeling a bit under the weather (somehow I only get a cold at Christmas), TIVO caught Ghostbusters on one of our ‘movie wish-lists’, that brightened up my day. Stands up to the test of time for a 24 year old movie. Watch it again if you get the chance. Ghostbusters (1984): Rating:

The Hockey Sweater
December 21st, 2007 · 1 Comment
We were talking about this story/NFB animation last night at the Company holiday Dinner. It amazing how many people consider this to a be a quintessential piece of Quebecois/Canadian identity. I often think of “Mon Oncle Antoine” when I think of this story probaly due to the time period and setting. “Though a relatively recent story, it […]

Memento mori
December 18th, 2007 · No Comments
The phrase “Memento mori” came up today while I was surfing around at lunch. Something I’d read about, studied and thought about on numerous occasions (the fact itself, the process by which we remind ourselves that we are mortal and how we each deal with it) but had never heard the term. “Memento mori is a Latin […]

Is it winter yet… 4 meters of snow
December 18th, 2007 · No Comments
Jay Peak has 434cm (171”) of snow so far this season. For December 18th; That’s crazy. I was there on Sunday and can confirm that it’s deep and that everything is covered. I can’t imagine how good riding is today. Hopefully this keeps up over the holidays. www.jaypeakresort.com/en/jay_peak/conditions

Polar Bear
December 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment
After discussing the idea with Allen last week, I couldn’t resist pulling a ‘polar bear’ on Saturday at the cottage. My version of a polar bear is: 30 minutes in the sauna, dash out and roll in the deep powdery snow, back to the sauna, repeat. The first time was cold but the shock kind numbs […]

Jesse and the Blower
December 17th, 2007 · No Comments
Blower This is a shot of Jesse somehow getting this beat-up old snowblower, that came with our cottage, to work! The thing backfires and can only handle teaspoons of snow at a time – but it’s all good.

Early AM Jay
December 17th, 2007 · No Comments
Early AM Jay Did the solo mission today, which meant I was able to get up super early and arrive at Jay before opening (always easier when it’s only you). Also meant getting first chair on the ‘Freezer’ and a silky quiet early AM pow run first thing today. The goods.

A lesson learned
December 14th, 2007 · 3 Comments
One morning in Costa Rica, we head down to the beach for a morning high-tide session. It’s about 6am, Sun’s just up and the swell is looking great with no wind and super glassy conditions. All excited, we race to put on sun block lotion, which is a MUST, grab our boards off the truck and […]

The 3rd Bourne
December 14th, 2007 · No Comments
We watched the last of the Bourne Movies last night - The Bourne Ultimatum. As much as I don’t want to like like Matt Damon - I do. He’s a good actor who *very* convincingly plays this part (more than in the first 2 movies). Both Linda and I think he’ll be one of the actors […]

Our Costa Photos
December 13th, 2007 · No Comments
Here’s my photos from Costa Rica. I haven’t had much time to write much about our trip, let alone the fact that it took me two weeks to get these online. The photos speak for themselves; It was an awesome time, great traveling with friends and some of the most fun surfing I’ve ever done. I’ve […]

There’s a site out there called Farecast that let’s you track those kinda of questions — and now it’s tracking some major Canadian airports (Vancouver, Montréal, Toronto, and Calgary). “Farecast.com is […]
