Mike V does a demo in Mexico

August 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Mike Vallely is one of my childhood heroes — the guy rips skating and has always given it 150%. I last had the pleasure of watching him ‘destroy’ stuff skating at Slam City Jam a couple years ago in BC.
Still doing comps and demos — this story about his recent trip to Mexico City [...]

Surflock

Now what happens when you want to bring two boards — let’s say your longboard and a fish. [...]

August 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Finally some small swell pops up.
Have a day off work banked so Johan and myself decided what better way to spend one of the final summer days by sliding it away down south.
We’re heading down to NH on Saturday with the aim of coffee fueled dawn patrols and as many sessions as we can [...]

What does Place Quartier Des Spectacle hold in store?

August 19th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Walking down to lunch today; a new billboard has been put up showing what the eventual corner of Jeanne-Mance and Ste-Catherine’s will look like, the new “Place Quartier Des Spectacle”.
Shockingly it’s not going to be some terrible concert venue or prefab amphitheatre. They are reclaiming part of the street, building steps into a light slope [...]

High-res cams on the Cape

August 17th, 2008 · 4 Comments

One of the nicest “wave cams” on the eastern seaboard got an upgrade. It’s the cam that sits looking down towards the break at “Coast Guard Beach” (here’s an approximate location link).
They’re now displaying images at 1296 x 976 pixels and the overall picture quality is amazing.
This is not where we surf; but it’s [...]

Ride report — 9′6″ Classic longboard

August 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Over the weekends we’ve been able to go surfing this summer; I’ve been using my new longboard. (writing this as the summer is coming to a close and I feel that it’s time to pull back out the fish as my primary board as the swell hopefully grows through the fall)
