NYT’s has quite the archive of surfing articles. Some are the typical fluff/cliché but others are written with the trademark NYT’s quality you’d expect; offering insight into some unique themes and places going back to 1989.
But it still doesn’t hold a candle to The Surfer’s Journal — if they offered full online archives; I would pay for that.

I have yet to see a surf article by the Times I can thought was a on par with their other coverage. Some, like the Bird Rock Bandits stories are downright sensationalist crap.

You might be right - maybe I’m giving them a bit of slack for covering something I love?
I had noticed the use of the word “dude” one too many times and the whole BRB story is just crap.
