The Shins videos
August 14th, 2008 · 1 Comment
I’m a huge Shins fan. I’ve never grown tired of listening to their albums over the past few years. Something I’ve never really checked out is their videos. I even have my own vision for a Shins video to pitch to them one day (for the song Sleeping Lessons) — ha! The Shins : Turn on Me […]

I won’t be flying Delta Airlines
August 12th, 2008 · 5 Comments
Update: Do your part if you care about this; Please send Delta a note through their website — http://www.delta.com/emailus/servlet/EmailUs?cmd=go (Rick has put together a template to base your note off of or copy mine) This is becoming ridiculous; A huge part of planning any surf trip is now carefully choosing an airline that won’t old […]

NYT’s & surfing
August 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments
NYT’s has quite the archive of surfing articles. Some are the typical fluff/cliché but others are written with the trademark NYT’s quality you’d expect; offering insight into some unique themes and places going back to 1989. But it still doesn’t hold a candle to The Surfer’s Journal — if they offered full online archives; I would […]

Plank sign
August 6th, 2008 · 2 Comments
We finally got a sign for the company. My pop ran some nice wood through the CNC machine at his work to “cut out” our logo. We then stained and mounted it up with plexiglass, hardware and chains. Just in time for our 10th anniversary! Matches the website fairly well all things considered.

How to shoot from the water while surfing
August 6th, 2008 · No Comments
I’ve always been curious how Kaiser_1 from the Daily Bread gets all his water shots — while surfing. We’ve tried with limited success, mostly with the person shooting opting just to be floating in the impact zone. I know what kind of camera he uses - an Olympus 770sw (we’ve used almost the same one in […]

Excellent fabric patterns
August 5th, 2008 · No Comments
Found these excellent fabric patterns created by Yehrin Tong. The tigers are almost (so close) but not exactly seamless — thought I had a new desktop there for a sec. Probably a good thing as I would have been hypnotized within seconds staring into those swirls. See them all here

Under the Waves by Asako Narahashi
August 5th, 2008 · No Comments
Love this series by Japanese artist Asako Narahashi, who shoots Japan while swimming off the coast. One of the images reminds me of a certain blog header; *Ahem* (look up) … “Turning the world upside down can be as easy as going for a swim. Asako Narahashi’s series “half awake and half asleep in the water,” […]

WESC earphones at the iStore
August 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
We just swung by the iStore in Westmount to pick up an iBook we had in for service (bad luck for the old iBook - fried logic board). Surprised to see they had 10 or so boxes of WESC earphones on display for sale. Asked how they’d been doing and the guys who run the place […]
