Mavericks 2010
Just some amazing photos out there from Mav’s 2010 — the flickr blog highlights some of the better ones from this year.

This is the spot I’ve surfed the most in my life
Contents spread in the latest Surfer’s Journal looked awfully familiar as soon as I saw it. This is where I learned to surf and and spent many fun days.
Too bad it’s now in TSJ and will be blown up/crowded …. kidding ;-).
This has gotta be one of the NE’s busiest and most crowded surf spots.

Brigitte is 7 months old today. She’s more and more amazing every day (doesn’t every parent say that ?!).
Michael Bierut is one of the partners @ Pentagram in NYC. If you work in the creative client services industry — this is worth your time to watch.
“Our speaker at the January 2010 CreativeMornings ( creativemornings.com ) was Michael Bierut of Pentagram hosted at the fabulous Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn. It was our biggest CreativeMornings audience yet with 300 (!) NYC creatives attending.”
Fun little short clip from Jason Baffa…
“Keith (Malloy) bagged this tube while we were shooting some 2nd unit stuff for a feature. tyler made us a few nose riders and this 9’4″ – craftsman, it wasn’t a lot different than the nose rider outline but no spoon – maybe a bit narrower. we knew we were going to surf puerto escondito and we wanted something that would be pretty fast. this stuff has been sitting in a drawer so i thought i’d share it.”
Did my first 7km+ run this morning and felt strong at the end. Short term goals include getting closer to a 5’/km pace, regularly running 7km+ with longer 10km runs once a week, and keeping up a minimum of 3 runs per week.
A good motivator for me is running to old rock/punk plus some new stuff — here’s the latest “RUN” playlist..
RUN MIX 1
Nat Young Airdrop to some very limber looking rag dolling at Sunset Beach, HI.
Lovely short video of barrel fest at a beach very close to where we hang out.
“Mid-Atlantic snow storm brings fun waves to New England.
Video : Michael Sander”
There’s a ton of things to love about this video — skate, dawn patrol, redondo beach brea barrels, dolphins and being stoked!!
“Wake up at 5:30, coffee and internet, as the sky lightens just enough, hop on the Sector9 to skate down to the beach for a look. Looks good, i’m out there. Skate home and run up the stairs. Run back down in wetsuit, climb under the fence, paddle out in the cold, appreciate the sunrise from the water, the dolphins swimming by, and a few awesome views from inside the waves.” — Holly Beck
Some links for February 1st through February 9th…
Great POV from beginning to end — I would highly suggest clicking this link and then choosing 720p/HD from the options and viewing full screen.
“Bart Willems went for a session in 15ft surf at Mavericks on 2010-01-10 and documented a session on GoPro HD camera. A 3 hour session is condensed into 5 minutes of highlights.”
How can you not love this.. Gerry and Herbie touring the Pipe house then sitting back to watch the show.
“And to back up Justin’s words here’s Gerry Lopez and Herbie Fletcher on Jan 29th, walking talking and reminiscing around their previous residence – the Pipe House.
Surfing, one of the world’s earliest sports, is lucky to have been defined again so recently in historical terms.
It’s easy to spout on about commercialism ruining a sport. So so make a cup of tea and sit down and spend 10 minutes watching these gentlemen tell you how it was to a backdrop of perfect Pipe. “
